Four Writers Lounges in November

What happened to National Novel Writing Month?

In 2024, after two decades, NaNoWriMo closed up shop due to two key controversies: inadequate oversight of the organization’s youth programs, and an unpopular decision to welcome works using artificial intelligence.

Several organizations are offering fun alternatives for November writing projects, which we enthusiastically support.

You can read more about it here and here.

This November we’re hosting a Drop-In Writers Lounge every week: a multi-hour block to work quietly while enjoying the fellowship of other writers. Participants have noted how much they enjoy this dedicated writing time and how surprisingly productive they are.

We’ll meet on three Sunday afternoons and one Tuesday evening. Each session includes a special pre-event: writerly pep talks and an opportunity for Q&A from guest authors Danny Lavery (November 1), Claudia Mills (November 10), Lorna Landvik (November 22), and Flynn Meaney (November 29)

The event is free for BTS members. There is a fee for non-members to attend the writer talk, though non-members may skip the talk, arrive 30 minutes later, and take part in the two-hour writing block for no charge.

Pre-registration is required.

Regular participants look forward to these events all year! Please join us.
