Frances “Bick” Kenney, daughter of Patrick and Rose Kenney, was born on July 13, 1891, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Kenney family lived in this house from 1898 to 1911.

Our BTS Shop is located in Tacy’s House, which is also a museum. On display are many Lovelace artifacts, including books, photographs, and manuscripts. Three items in particular will especially delight Betsy-Tacy fans:

• Mrs. Hart’s (“Mrs. Ray”) original brass bowl, which she purchased for herself exactly as described in Betsy in Spite of Herself
• The one remaining Okto Delta pin, which originally belonged to Ruth Williams (“Alice Morrison”)
• The little glass pitcher that Bick (“Tacy”) famously gave Maud (“Betsy”) at the iconic fifth birthday party

In 2010, the childhood homes of Maud Hart Lovelace and Frances Kenney were designated National Literary Landmarks by the Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends, and Foundations, a division of the American Library Association.
